Public Health Englands adoption of 95% and the birth of the myth The first to cite Nutt's article was Public Health England (PHE) (England's former national public health agency) in a 2015 report.[xiv] But PHE in 2015 went even further than simply repeating the argument, making it the focal point of a press release at that time by putting it directly in the headline.[xv] This form of communication certainly contributed a great deal to the propagation of the 95% myth, as Professor Glantz pointed out in his 2015 commentary, which also heavily criticized Nutt's article.[xvi] The PHE report, from its introductory page, chose to give a lot of prominence to the "95%": "In a nutshell, best estimates show e-cigarettes are 95% less harmful to your health than normal cigarettes []"

(That Cigarette) Lyrics [Refrain, performed following each verse] Smoke smoke smoke that cigarette Puff puff puff and if you smoke yourself to death Tell Saint Peter at the Golden Gate That you just hate to make him wait But you just gotta have another cigarette [Verse 1] I'm a guy with a heart of gold And the ways of a gentleman I've been told The kind of a guy that'd never harm a flea But if me and a certain character met The man who invented the cigarette I'd murder that son of a gun in the first degree Now it ain't 'cause I don't smoke myself And I don't figger it'll hurt my health Been smokin' for twenty-five years ain't dead yet But them nicotine slaves they're all the same At a pettin' party or a poker game Everything's gotta stop while they smoke that cigarette [Refrain] [Verse 2] At a game of chance the other night Old Dame Fortune was doin' me right The Kings and Queens just kept on comin' 'round Well I played 'em low bet 'em high My bluff didn't work on a certain guy He kept on bettin' layin' that money down He raised me I raised him I sweated blood you gotta sink or swim Well he finally called and didn't raise the bet-- I said "Aces full pal how 'bout you" He said "I'll tell you in a minute or two But right now I'm gonna smoke another cigarette" [Refrain] [Verse 3] The other night I had a date With the cutest little girl in the forty eight states A regular uptown fancy kinda dame She said she loved me it seemed to me That things was goin' the way they s'posed to be Hand in hand we was strollin' down lover's lane She was oh so far from a cake of ice Our pettin' party was goin' nice So help me Hannah I'd'a been there yet But I give her a hug and a little squeeze She said "Cody excuse me please But right now I gotta light up one o' them cigarettes" [Refrain] [Verse 4] Now life ain't nothin' but a poker game No two hands quite the same And I never saw a winner that didn't bet So if any o' you folks fixin' to quit I ain't gonna criticize you one little bit Instead I'm gonna light up one o' them cigarettes [Refrain] Got a smoke
