If you are holding Cancel when an opponent casts a spell you dont want them to have, you can respond with Cancel and counter their spell
Letting you cast a reanimation spell from your graveyard AND for no mana just allows too many shortcuts for these sorts of decks, and were unlikely to ever get a card like this again
He even saw a bit of play in big rampy green decks although I suspect this won't happen again with Thragtusk in the picture
It is sufficiently over powered that it is one of a few cards I no longer bother to run in my cube
